Regional Fixtures Released

The new Cricket Wales regional programme is finally set to get underway this summer at the second time of asking. Despite the structural change to the pathway early last year, the pandemic did not allow any formal regional cricket to be played last year.

Cricket Wales North (CWN), South (CWS), East (CWE) and West (CWW) will compete against each across U11-U15 age groups for a number of prestigious trophies in addition to a host of additional fixtures, many of which are against external opposition.

CWN look forward to games against the likes of Herefordshire, Lancashire, Shropshire, Elsmere College and Kings College, whilst CWE will face opponents such as Millfield School, Somerset, Devon, London Schools, Gloucestershire and Cathedral School (Llandaff) at various age groups.

CWS also go up against Cathedral School in addition to Wellington School, Herefordshire, Gower College and Wales Women. CWW will also welcome Herefordshire, Wales Women, and a number of coaching academy sides from across South Wales.

Cricket Wales Head of Talent Pathway Matt Thompson commented, "everyone's chomping at the bit to get going at last, and it's tremendous to see some really exciting fixture lists pencilled in for all the regions. The Regional Pathway Leads have worked their socks off over the last few months to get us to this point so hats off to them in the first instance. Now it's just a case of getting out there, enjoying working with our youngsters and helping them to get back into the swing of things. It's always a challenge to find the right balance to a fixture list, as you want to have tough games, and games where you can perhaps dominate as well. I'm confident the guys have found that this year. Having said that, this is the regional programme's first summer in the new structure so we need to be agile enough to learn quickly from this summer so we can continually improve our match experience for our players."

All fixtures have been emailed to players and parents. To find all the fixtures for the regions across all age groups visit the Cricket Wales Play Cricket site:
