Cricket Wales Proudly Congratulates Our Finalists for the Wales Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards 2025
Cricket Wales is incredibly proud to celebrate two inspiring figures whose dedication and leadership continue to shape the future of Welsh sport.
Keri Chahal has been named a finalist in the Lifetime Achievement Award category, while Mojeid Ilays has been shortlisted for Coach of the Year at the upcoming Wales Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards 2025.
Keri Chahal – Lifetime Achievement Award Finalist
Leading with passion and coaching with purpose, Keri has devoted his life to sport, from captaining national league teams to leading inclusive cricket programmes across Wales. His unwavering commitment to breaking barriers and creating access for all communities has inspired generations.
Keri’s influence goes far beyond the boundary. Through years of mentorship and community leadership, he has shown what it means to build belonging and opportunity in sport. His recognition as a finalist is a testament to a lifetime of service, passion, and perseverance.

Mojeid Ilays – Coach of the Year Finalist
From tape-ball games in Grangetown to coaching with Cricket Wales, Mojeid’s journey is one of passion, purpose, and representation. His tireless work in Cardiff and Newport is transforming access to cricket, creating opportunities for young people in underserved communities, and championing the idea that cricket is truly a game for all.
Mojeid’s nomination reflects not only his coaching excellence but also his role as a changemaker and role model, inspiring the next generation of Welsh cricketers from all backgrounds.
“Mojeid brings energy, empathy, and inspiration to everything he does. His impact reaches far beyond the pitch.” Said Barry Cawte, Cricket Wales CEO.
Winners will be revealed during what promises to be a truly special evening celebrating diversity, inclusion, and excellence in Welsh sport.
