Cricket Wales is celebrating a momentous achievement as we have been shortlisted for two prestigious awards at the upcoming Welsh Sports Associations Sports Industry Awards 2024. We have been recognised for our outstanding efforts in promoting women in sport and physical activity, as well as for our exceptional collaboration initiatives with partners.
The excitement is palpable within Cricket Wales as we gear up for the awards ceremony where we will be vying for the titles of Best Initiative to Promote Women in Sport & Physical Activity and Best Collaboration Initiative. These awards hold special significance as they acknowledge the remarkable initiatives and successes of those in the sport, while also highlighting best-practice models and strategies that are shaping the future of Welsh sport and leisure.
Victoria Jones, Facilities Investment Manager at Cricket Wales said, “We are delighted at the nomination, emphasising the importance of collaborative efforts in the development of community sporting facilities. Working closely with partners such as the Cymru Football Foundation and the Welsh Government, Cricket Wales aims to build stronger, more resilient communities through sport.”
Mark Frost, Interim CEO of Cricket Wales, “We have seen a significant growth in the participation of women and girls in cricket in recent years. We have utilised innovative approaches to adapting programs and the game itself, ensuring that more people have the opportunity to experience and enjoy cricket. Cricket is a game for everyone.”
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at the prestigious Parkgate Hotel on Thursday 6th June 2024. Along with our partners and supporters, we eagerly await the outcome of the event, where we hope to be recognised for our dedication to promoting inclusivity, collaboration, and growth within the Welsh sporting community.
