Seven Cricket Clubs in Wales Awarded Sport Wales Energy Saving Grants
Cricket Wales is delighted to announce that seven cricket clubs across the country have been awarded funding through the Sport Wales Energy Saving Grant. This vital support will help community clubs reduce energy costs, improve efficiency, and contribute to a more sustainable future for grassroots sport in Wales.
The successful clubs are:
Cresselly Cricket Club – £18,529
Malpas Cricket Club – £14,164
Briton Ferry Steelworks Cricket Club – £20,922
Skewen Cricket Club – £24,565
Newport Cricket Club – £25,000
Clwb Criced Bronwydd – £14,856
Penarth Cricket Club – £20,589
The grants will fund a variety of energy-saving projects including LED lighting upgrades, boreholes, and solar PV installations. These improvements will significantly reduce ongoing running costs and environmental impact, strengthening the financial and ecological sustainability of club facilities in Wales.
This investment directly supports Cricket Wales’ strategic priority of developing Fit for Purpose Facilities, ensuring that clubs have the infrastructure to thrive as the game continues to evolve.
