Vacancy: Disability Assistant Coach

Given the growth and development of the Disability Hardball team we are seeking an Assistant Coach to work directly with the playing squad for the 2024/25 winter, 2025 summer and beyond.

Disability Assistant Coach

The Disability Assistant Coach is responsible for developing the technical and tactical skills of the playing squad alongside the Head Coach. The coach has a crucial role to play in ensuring that players are challenged and supported whilst facilitating a positive and enjoyable environment.

 

KEY DUTIES JOB DESCRIPTION (SUPPORTED BY THE HEAD COACH):

  • Plan and deliver aspects of the winter training programme (October – April)​ whilst being a regular figure at sessions (locations generally Cardiff or East Wales with some sessions in Pembrokeshire).
  • Assist with the selecting of squads and teams for summer fixtures, liaising with the Head Coach
  • Attend coach CPD events​ as directed by Cricket Wales
  • Provide regular and ongoing feedback to players ​
  • Assist the Head Coach and players on matchdays across the summer (approximately 8 days)
  • Accompany the team during any pre-season camps in or outside of the UK (dates for 2025 to be confirmed)
  • Liaise with the Wellbeing and Mental Skills practitioner around player and personal development

*The position is casual and involves approximately 45-60 hours in the winter in addition to summer fixtures.

RENUMERATION:

£14.57 per hour (L2/Core Coach) + 25p travel expenses​

£16.81 per hour (L3/Advanced Coach) + 25p travel expenses​

£120 day rate for match day coaching ​+25p travel expenses

QUALIFICATIONS AND CHECKS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of a Level 2 (Core) qualified cricket coach
  • ECB DBS clearance certificate (renewed annually)
  • A valid First Aid certificate (completed every three years)
  • A valid ECB e-learning Safeguarding module certificate (completed every three years)
  • Face to face Pathway Safeguarding Induction (completed every three years)

*Willingness to undertake Adults at Risk & Disability Inclusion training as directed by Cricket Wales.

You will play a key role in helping improve the overall playing standard from a technical standpoint – developing your own coaching and experience throughout the process – and be an ambassador / role model for disability cricket across the country.
