Updated Guidance; Permitted Cricket Activity in Wales, Mar 2021

|

Following the recent changes to legislation in Wales, with regards to outdoor exercise and organised outdoor activities for children, Cricket Wales and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are pleased to be able to issue the following updated guidance for clubs, facilities, cricketers, parents/guardians and volunteers, to support your safe return to permitted cricket activity over the coming weeks.

This guidance replaces that issued earlier in the month and is reflective of the most up-to-date easing in restrictions, and associated Welsh Government guidance and FAQs. Advice with regards to essential grounds and facility preparation etc. remains unchanged.

'Organised outdoor activity' is defined by Welsh Government as, outdoor activities run for the development and well-being of children and young people, such as sports clubs, drama classes, parent and toddler groups, youth groups and religious groups are allowed,  - For cricket, this means that under-18 outdoor practice (including nets) and matches can take place; Group sizes will be subject to venue space, to allow for social distancing to be maintained, as well as standing supervision ratios, as detailed in the guidance.

Please note that all organised outdoor activities for adults remain under restrictions at this time and should not be undertaken, but adults can undertake cricket activity, as exercise, with up to one other household (to a maximum of 6 people).

We also ask participants and clubs remain cognisant of the fact that only outdoor activity is permissible - and changing rooms and clubhouses must remain closed, with only limited exceptions (eg for access to toilets, First Aid equipment).

We would also like to remind participants that currently travel is not permitted between England and Wales for the purposes of any adult cricket activity (whether formal or informal).

We will update the Welsh Cricket Family again, in follow up to the next planned Welsh Government reviews on 1 April and 22 April, when we have confirmation from Welsh Government of any implications for cricket activity.

If you have any questions or queries, please contact your Area Teams, who will be delighted to help.
