Glamorgan staffer Prem Sisodiya is set to return to the Wales NC line up for the first time in over two years on Sunday as Sam Pearce's side continue their preparations on Sunday for the NCCA 50 over competition starting later this month. Wales have named a squad of 13 to face Herefordshire at Lisvane in a reverse of the fixture a fortnight ago where an Oskar Kolk hundred propelled Wales to a 50 run victory.
Left arm spinning all rounder Sisodiya - a product of Cardiff Cricket Club - was a regular feature for Wales NC prior to signing his first contract with Glamorgan in 2018 and has always been keen to play whenever professional duties allow. With Glamorgan 2nd XI having three of their first four days curtailed by rain against Gloucestershire this week, Sunday provides an ideal opportunity to get some game time in. Only last season the former England U19 international spearheaded Glamorgan's T20 Blast bowling attack and returned impressive campaign figures of 10 wickets @ 23.20 with an economy rate of 6.44 per over.
Wales also welcome back former Gloucestershire keeper batter Cameron Herring, who will play as a batter only on Sunday. Herring is still getting back to match fitness after a serious footballing injury over the winter - Chris Matthews will keep the gloves after a tidy performance at Brockhampton earlier in the month. With first team regulars Steven Reingold, Sam Jardine, Andrew Gorvin, Tom Bevan and Dan Lewis-Williams involved in ECB Knockout Round duties for Neath and St Fagans respectively, there are opportunities to impress for Swansea's Steff Roberts at the top of the order and new recruit James Brehaut. Roberts has shown time and again in league cricket just how impactful he can be, with his 'no fuss' approach to batting and Brehaut, originally from Sussex, provides an interesting left arm seam option having impressed on league debut two weeks ago with three wickets. With Dan Lewis-Williams off abroad next year, Brehaut will be keen to test his skills at National Counties level both for this summer and beyond, providing he can overcome a slight back issue.
There are welcome returns to the fold also for Kazi Syzmanski, released by Glamorgan at the end of 2019, and academy graduate Morgan Bevans who has started the season strongly for Cardiff UCCE and Glamorgan 2nd XI.
It goes without saying competition for places against Buckinghamshire at High Wycombe on 30th May are at a premium, and skipper Sam Pearce and Head Coach Darren Thomas will want players on Sunday to provide a selection headache.
Spectators, in line with ECB guidance are not permitted to attend the fixture.
