Cricket in Wales – Driving Growth in Women & Girls’ Cricket
Cricket Wales is committed to the continued growth and development of women and girls’ cricket at all levels, from grassroots participation to feeding into Glamorgan cricket’s high-performance pathways. With the launch of our dynamic new strategy, developed in partnership with Glamorgan Cricket, we have placed Women and Girls as a core pillar of our vision for the game in Wales.
At the heart of this strategy is Criced, A Sport For All, a commitment to creating inclusive, inspiring, and accessible opportunities for everyone. As we move into this exciting new chapter for Welsh cricket, we are creating a role dedicated to driving forward the women and girls' game, ensuring players, coaches, officials, and volunteers have the support, visibility, and pathways they need to thrive.
To lead this work, we are recruiting for a Women & Girls Lead, a pivotal role in shaping the future of the female game in Wales.
The successful candidate will play a key part in delivering our strategic goals in line with Cricket Wales’ values, Together, Lead, Care. They will lead a coordinated approach to developing inclusive and sustainable programmes, working closely with clubs, schools, leagues, and key partners to ensure female participation and leadership is fully embedded across all levels of the game.
The post holder will be a core member of our Participation Team, reporting to the Head of Participation, and will line-manage the Women & Girls Development Officers to support the delivery of impactful, inspiring initiatives across the country.
Additionally, the Women & Girls Development Officers will report into this role, providing
direct support in delivering key participation and engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Driving Women & Girls’ Participation Growth
- Lead the implementation of Cricket Wales’ Women & Girls’ Cricket Strategy, ensuring growth at all levels of the game.
- Work with clubs, leagues, and schools to increase participation opportunities and remove barriers to entry.
- Support and develop female-focused programs, such as softball and hardball cricket formats, to encourage long-term engagement.
Developing Leaders & Role Models
- Identify, mentor, and develop female coaches, umpires, and administrators to create a strong leadership pathway.
- Lead on coach and volunteer development programs specific to women and girls’ cricket.
- Work with existing and emerging female role models to inspire the next generation of players and leaders.
Creating a Welcoming & Inclusive Culture
- Collaborate with clubs and leagues to ensure female-friendly environments are established and maintained.
- Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion principles to drive positive culture change in cricket communities.
- Engage with female participants to understand their needs and develop initiatives that enhance their cricketing experience.
Strategic Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with national and regional partners, including ECB and Sport Wales, to align strategies and secure funding for women and girls’ development.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including schools, universities, and community organisations.
- Ensure that Cricket Wales remains at the forefront of best practices in women and girls’ sport development.
People & Performance Management
- Line manage the Women & Girls Development Officers, providing support, guidance, and performance oversight.
- Set clear objectives and monitor the impact of initiatives to ensure continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with the wider Cricket Wales team to align development efforts across all participation pathways.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in sports development, ideally within a women and girls’ participation context.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and support a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working with a range of stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to implement participation growth initiatives effectively.
- Understanding of barriers to female participation in sport and the ability to develop solutions.
- Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
Desirable Experience & Attributes
- A passion for cricket and a strong understanding of the sport’s structure in Wales and the UK.
- Experience in managing and developing volunteers in a sporting environment.
- Knowledge of funding opportunities and experience in securing external investment for programs.
- Welsh language proficiency or a willingness to develop Welsh language skills.

Mae Criced Cymru wedi ymrwymo i barhau i dyfu a datblygu criced menywod a merched ar bob lefel, o gyfranogiad ar lefel leol i fwydo i mewn i lwybrau perfformiad uchel criced Morgannwg. Gyda lansiad eich strategaeth newydd ddeinamig, a ddatblygwyd mewn partneriaeth â Criced Morgannwg, rydym wedi gosod Menywod a Merched fel un o golofnau craidd ein gweledigaeth ar gyfer y gêm yng Nghymru.
Wrth galon y strategaeth hon y mae Criced, Gêm i Bawb, sef ymrwymiad i greu cyfleoedd cynhwysol, ysbrydoledig a hygyrch i bawb. Wrth inni symud ymlaen i’r bennod newydd gyffrous hon i griced yng Nghymru, rydym yn creu rôl benodol i hyrwyddo criced menywod a merched, gan sicrhau bod chwaraewyr, hyfforddwyr, swyddogion a gwirfoddolwyr yn cael y gefnogaeth, yr amlygrwydd, a’r llwybrau sydd eu hangen arnynt i ffynnu.

- Arwain y gwaith o roi Strategaeth Griced ‘Menywod a Merched’ Criced Cymru ar waith, gan sicrhau twf ar bob lefel o’r gêm.
- Gweithio â chlybiau, cynghreiriau ac ysgolion i gynyddu cyfleoedd i gyfranogi, a chwalu rhwystrau rhag cymryd rhan.
- Cefnogi a datblygu rhaglenni ar gyfer menywod, megis fformatau pêl feddal a pêl galed, i annog ymgysylltiad hirdymor.
Datblygu Arweinwyr a Gosod Esiampl
- Nodi, mentora a datblygu hyfforddwyr, dyfarnwyr a gweinyddwyr benywaidd i greu llwybr arweinyddiaeth cadarn.
- Arwain rhaglenni datblygu hyfforddwyr a gwirfoddolwyr penodol ar gyfer criced menywod a merched.
- Gweithio gyda menywod sy’n gosod esiampl er mwyn ysbrydoli’r genhedlaeth nesaf o chwaraewyr ac arweinwyr.
Creu Diwylliant Croesawgar a Chynhwysol
- Cydweithio â chlybiau a chynghreiriau i sicrhau bod amgylcheddau ystyriol o fenywod yn cael eu sefydlu a’u cynnal.
- Eiriol dros degwch, amrywiaeth a chynhwysiant fel egwyddorion all arwain at newid y diwylliant er gwell o fewn cymunedau criced.
- Ymgysylltu â chyfranogwyr benywaidd i ddeall eu hanghenion, a datblygu mentrau sy’n gwella eu profiadau criced.
Arweinyddiaeth Strategol ac Ymgysylltu â Rhanddeiliaid
- Gweithio’n agos â phartneriaid cenedlaethol a rhanbarthol, gan gynnwys yr ECB a Chwaraeon Cymru i sicrhau bod strategaethau’n cydfynd â’i gilydd, ac i sicrhau cyllid ar gyfer datblygu criced menywod a merched.
