Cricket Wales is thrilled to announce the launch of the ECB Foundation and Core Coach Courses for the Autumn/Winter 2024-2025 season. These programs are designed to equip aspiring coaches with the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead engaging, purposeful, and safe cricket sessions.
Programme Overview
The ECB Foundation Coach Course is perfect for anyone aged 17 and over who wishes to start their coaching journey. The course includes modules on fielding, batting, and bowling, ensuring that participants can deliver enjoyable and active sessions. Successful completion qualifies you to lead coaching sessions independently. Learn more about the Foundation Courses HERE.
The ECB Core Coach Course builds on this foundation, focusing on player-centred planning and development. It covers core principles for batting, bowling (pace and spin), fielding, and wicketkeeping. This course is ideal for those looking to inspire and develop players, making a significant impact on the game. Learn more about Core Coach Courses HERE.
Metro Bank Girls in Cricket Fund
We’re thrilled to be able to offer Two Core Coach courses in Wales in conjunction with Metro Bank and the ECB. The Metro Bank Girls in Cricket Fund ECB Core Coach programme is designed to develop coaches' knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead player-centred sessions for girls. Women in Sport’s insights highlight the need for more tailored coaching education and resources to effectively inspire and develop girls, without reinforcing negative gender stereotypes. This program addresses the gap, helping coaches create a supportive and inclusive environment for girls in cricket.
Bursaries for Coaches
Thanks to the generous support of the England and Wales Cricket Trust, bursaries are available to increase diversity among new coaches. These bursaries support potential coaches who are female, from ethnically diverse communities, have a disability, or are experiencing financial hardship. For more information and to apply, visit HERE.
