Inaugural Women's Welsh Cup Champions Crowned

|

The first ever Women's Welsh Cup saw Colwyn Bay Cricket Club and Pembroke Dock Cricket Club lift the trophies in the Plate & Main Cup Competitions respectively.

The day started off with two plate Semi Finals at the magnificent Vale Cricket Club. Colwyn Bay played Bronwydd Cricket Club and Panteg Flames played Radyr Cricket Club.

Both games went down to the wire with Colwyn Bay winning by just 5 runs to make it through to the Final. The other Semi Final was even closer. Panteg being ahead by one run with a ball to go - who then managed to see out the last ball joining Colwyn Bay in the final.

The final saw Colwyn Bay run out as winners by 17 runs. A game which had its moments where it could have gone either way but the North Wales team emerged victorious, and lift the Plate.

The main competition final was contested between Sudbrook Cricket Club and Pembroke Dock Cricket Club.

Sudbrook got off to a great start, taking 2 early wickets. The Dockettes then started to build some momentum and got to a total of 115-4 from their hundred balls. Sudbrook again off to a great start but it was the Dockettes who took 4 wickets in 4 balls, with some brilliant fielding - eventually bowling Sudbrook out for 81.
