On Friday 4th April, Cricket Wales employees rolled up their sleeves and headed out to three cricket clubs across Wales—Machen, Pontardawe, and Northop Hall—to support local volunteers in getting ready for the upcoming season. This full staff initiative was a fantastic opportunity to engage with club members, celebrate their hard work, and make a tangible impact on the ground.
At each club, Cricket Wales staff teamed up with dedicated volunteers to tackle various tasks and ensure that facilities were in prime condition for the summer months. From preparing pitches to sprucing up clubhouses, the collaborative effort showcased the spirit of community that is essential to the success of grassroots cricket.
David from Northop Hall added, "As a team we completed the painting of two sight screens, the front of the clubhouse and one side of the picket fence. A great help in our preparation for the season."

Victoria Jones, Facilities Investment Manager at Cricket Wales, shared her thoughts on the initiative: "We had a great time engaging with our clubs across Wales. It was heart-warming to see the support we provided making such a huge impact on the ground. Without our club volunteers, cricket clubs across Wales would struggle to operate, and we truly value the input and dedication they show all year round."
As clubs around Wales gear up for the season, many signed up for the ECB’s Get Set Weekend on April 5th and 6th. If your club participated in the program, we’d love to see the activities you completed with your team of volunteers! Please tag us in any social media posts using #GetSetWeekend. Together, let’s celebrate the incredible dedication of our cricket community!
