Chance to Shine Talent ID Day at Sophia Gardens a success!

|

With the support of our key partner Chance to Shine, Cricket Wales recently organised and delivered up a Multiskillis/Talent ID day at Sophia Gardens.

The purpose of the event was to provide those players from our Chance to Shine Street and Lord Taverners Wicketz programmes an opportunity to showcase their skills and talent at the home of Welsh cricket.

The Street and Wicketz programmes take place in non traditional cricket environments and target the wider communities not from a cricketing background.

The day was supported by Glamorgan CCC with input from Boys Academy Director Richard Almond along with the use of the Sophia Gardens indoor school, with players having the opportunity to undergo some fielding activities on the outfield.

Our Cricket Wales Head of Talent Pathway Matt Dando-Thompson was also in attendance to support aspects of the day, along with Mojeid Ilyas (South East Diverse Communities Officer) Tomos Barry (Wicketz Lead).

The key output from the day was to inspire the players and show them that there is a pathway to success in the game, and to fundamnetally enjoy the experience and make new friends along the way. Do have a watch of the video below where players describe what the day was like for them!

The day was organised and coordinated by our Keri Chahal (Chance to Shine Programme Lead)
