Wales U12s

|

The Wales team was very depleted due to the late withdrawal of several players to play for their Clubs at the ECB (Wales) Play Offs in Aberdare.

The quality of play in the match was very poor, with an abject bowling performance, allowing Hereford to amass 212-7 from their allotted 40 overs. The bowling from all bowlers was short and wayward, allowing the Hereford batsmen to score freely, on a helpful wicket.

In reply, an excellent innings of 78 by Alex Horton put Wales in with a chance of an unlikely victory. However, once he was out there was very little support from the other Wales batsmen and they were all out for 180,losing by 32 runs.

This was a very disappointing performance by Wales, albeit with a very understrength bowling attack.

The U12 Team that won the Wynyard Gibb Cup recently

This was a new venture for the Wales U12 team, taking part in a T20 Tournament organized by St Edwards School (Oxford) on Sunday 22nd May.  St Edwards School were excellent hosts and the playing facilities were fantastic, making it a very worthwhile day.

Wales gained good wins against St Edwards Schools and then Oxford, but another poor bowling display against Gloucestershire denied them a clean sweep of wins. However, by virtue of picking up more bonus points from their 3 games Wales were winners of the inaugural Wynyard Gibb Cup
