CLAIRE NICHOLAS AND UMAR MALIK RECOGNISED AT 2017 CRICKET WALES AWARDS

Western Storm star Claire Nicholas and up and coming batsmen Umar Malik were just two individuals who were recognised at the 2017 Cricket Wales New Caps Lunch held on Sunday 10th December at The SSE Swalec.

Former Wales Women’s captain Nicholas, capped over 100 times for Wales, won the inaugural John Derrick Award for the outstanding women/girls Player of the Year, in recognition of her major contribution to Western Storm winning the first ECB Kia Super League T20 title. Nicholas enjoyed an outstanding tournament opening the bowling and claiming the scalps of many international players on the way.

Malik was awarded the Geoff Holmes Award for the boys Player of the Year having scored over 800 runs for Wales U17’s including a top score of 195.
