Aged 18-24, LOVE SPORT and looking to improve your employ-ability chances?

10 lucky young people will be chosen to take part in Vi-Ability’s unique and fully funded business of sport programme, delivered in partnership with Glamorgan Cricket and Cricket Wales and hosted at the newly branded Sophia Gardens Cardiff Stadium.

Vi-Ability will be running an inspirational 8-week business of sport programme starting on June 6th, providing 18-24 year olds with business and employability skills, helping them to get back into education or find employment.

The programme has already been successfully delivered across the UK, with a primary focus on football, but this is the first time the programme has been designed around cricket.

There are 10 spaces on the course, which runs for 2 days a week. The programme boasts some inspirational guest speakers and fun sessions, where young people will learn how sports clubs generate revenue, manage their costs and use different marketing techniques to reach supporters and customers.

Vi-Ability will help participants to develop their CV and test their interview techniques as well as gain accreditations in First Aid and sports leadership. In addition to this, participants will work with a local cricket club and will get hands on experience with the opportunity to plan and run a local cricket initiative.

The young people who take part will not just come away with a qualification – they will have extended their network, improved their chances of employment, and will make new friends in the process.

Adam Bull, CEO of Vi-Ability said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Glamorgan Cricket and Cricket Wales to deliver our award-winning programme at the fantastic Sophia Gardens Cardiff. The programme is an incredible opportunity for young people to learn about the business of sport with input from some of the most experienced organizations and people in Welsh Cricket. We look forward to welcoming our 10 lucky participants in June.”

Glamorgan Cricket Community and Development Manager, Mark Frost, comments: “Partnering with Vi-Abilty will allow us to extend our outreach work within the community and develop the workforce of the future. Strengthening our links with the community supports the development of the next generation of players, coaches and backroom staff who can take the game into new realms.”
