Vale Cricket Club Opens its new Outdoor Nets

On Saturday 1st April Vale Cricket Club formally opened its new outdoor net practice facility at the Club’s home ground in Corntown.
The facility comprises a two-bay, fully carpeted system, within an enclosed net that will provide an ideal practice facility for both the senior cricketers and the developing junior section. The nets were constructed by Clubturf who also supplied the Club’s new roll-on covers.
The Club was awarded investment from the ECB/Cricket Wales capital grant programme with funding also provided by the Club and its Corporate Sponsors Bridgend Ford & Hugh James.
This new facility was part of Vale Cricket Club’s year of transition which delivered significant ground and club house improvements as set out in their 2020 Vision.
The facility was officially opened on Saturday 1st April by Alan Cairns MP, Jane Hutt AM, Peter Hybart CEO Cricket Wales & Gary Pesticcio Managing Director BridgendFord.
Speaking about the new net facility, Peter stated ‘The Vale Cricket Club have a clear direction, a strong management team and a real commitment to developing themselves into a sustainable cricket organisation that provides opportunities for everyone in the local community. The new outdoor nets are another important step in their development that will enable the growing junior section to be coached in a high-quality environment. We look forward to continuing to work with the Club and monitoring their progress’.
Gareth Andrews, Vale Cricket Club’s Chairman, said that he was delighted to see this new facility come to fruition. He thanked Alun Cairns and Jane Hutt for their support and Cricket Wales for believing in the club’s aspirations and business plan which was tabled in February 2016. He went on to thank the club’s corporate sponsors who had contributed significantly to the success of the last year and praised the work of the wider leadership and coaching team at the club.
