Updated Guidance for Outdoor Cricket Activity - May 2021

|

Further to the recent easements in Coronavirus restrictions in Wales, the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket Wales have agreed a number of updates to our Guidance for Outdoor Cricket Activity. This document replaces that which was issued in April 2021.

We encourage all participants, clubs and venue providers to read the document, as there are some significant changes to off-field restrictions which may affect your day, principally;

  • Indoor hospitality is now permitted, provided it is in line with Welsh Government law and guidance.
  • Other indoor spaces (eg changing rooms) can be used IF CLUBS FEEL THEY CAN OPEN THEM SAFELY; Any use of such indoor spaces will be subject to strict capacity limits to ensure that social distancing can be maintained, and a stringent cleaning regime, owing the increased risks of transmission indoors;
  • Face coverings must still be worn indoors in Wales, including in any changing rooms which may be opened by clubs, if they feel able to do so.

It is important to note that no club is OBLIGED to provide indoor / outdoor hospitality, or changing facilities, until they feel able to do so safely and in line with the current regulations and guidance, We have provided updated risk assessment templates and checklists at the end of the document, which reflect the changes in the law and therefore cricket's guidance.

Group size maximums have also been increased in Wales for organised outdoor activiity for adults, to a cap of 50 active participants.

Spectators are not permitted at any sports events in Wales at Alert Level 2, except at such events sanctioned by Welsh Government as 'test events', or where parents or guardians need to attend recreational training or matches for safeguarding reasons, or where carers need to support disabled participants.

 If there are any questions on the guidance, as always, please direct these to your local Area contacts who will be happy to help.
