Winners - Lisvane CC U13s
Sunday the 15th of May
at Aberdare Cricket Club
Organised by Cricket Wales
The sun shone all day allowing Group 1 (Newport, Pontarddulais and Radyr) and Group 2 (Lisvane, St Fagan’s and Mumbles) to play their matches without interruption.
The first games took place at 10am, with Pontarddulais beating Newport by 8 wickets and Lisvane beating St Fagan’s in the final over by 5 runs.
Game two saw Newport take on Radyr with Newport winning that game; whilst on the other field St Fagan’s beat Mumbles.
The results from games 1 and 2 meant game 3 had it all to play for in Group 1 with Pontarddulais taking on Radyr…Radyr set a total of 98 that saw Pontarddulais fall short, leaving each team in Group 1 winning one game.
In Group 2, Lisvane beat Mumbles; booking themselves a spot in the final. Because of the result in Group 1 calculations needed to be made for the NET run rate, resulting in Radyr taking part in the final alongside Lisvane.
The final had a great setting with the sun on its way down behind the old school at Aberdare, with Radyr winning the toss and electing to bat first. The score after their innings being 83/4. Lisvane got off to a great start needing at least 6 runs an over – finishing off the total by scoring the runs in the 14th over.
