TRIBUTE TO BERNARD WILKINS

|

Bernard was a lead administrator and renowned coach for the then Cricket Board of Wales (CBW) annual regional Festival held in Aberystwyth .

Originally the concept of the late Tom Cartwright, Bernard , together with Ray Kane (Pembrokeshire) and Bill Higginson took over in 1991.

For over 25 years Bernard played a major role in the overall success of this popular Festival.

He estimated , a couple of years ago ,  that in excess of 3,000 young players had taken part between the ages of under 15's down the current under 10's. Bernard always called it his 'annual pilgrimage', where the very best of all that's good in the game brought junior cricketers, coaches and parents together.

He shared Tom's desire that it should always remain a Festival, in the truest sense and reminded everyone of this each year.

Cricket has lost a loyal and popular supporter. R.I.P.

Funeral at Coychurch Crematorium Bridgend (CF35 6AB) on Monday 18th November at 11.00 a.m.
