Cricket
players and officials across Wales are invited to join their nearest
cricket roadshow to get expert coaching to improve game management and
tactical awareness and help clubs to win more matches as well as to discuss
sport-wide improvements for the game.
The
roadshows, hosted jointly by Glamorgan CCC and Cricket Wales, will be
split into two sessions, firstly to provide hands-on coaching tips from
Glamorgan first-team coaches as well as John Derrick, Cricket Wales
Performance Manager. There will also be the opportunity for attendees to
discuss views with the Peter Hybart, Cricket Wales Chief Executive and
Hugh Morris, Glamorgan CCC Chief Executive about improvements to the
game at grassroots level. Glamorgan players will also be attending to join in the Q&A session, with each roadshow starting from 6.30pm.
Road show dates and venues:
- Cardiff – SWALEC Stadium - 17th March
- Swansea – Llandarcy - 18th March
- Colwyn Bay – Parc Eirias – 23rd March
Glamorgan’s
Chief Executive and Director of Cricket Hugh Morris said, “Developing
young talented cricketers will be essential for the future of the game
in Wales. Glamorgan and Cricket Wales, who look after the recreational
game in Wales, are working very to achieve mutually beneficial
objectives. We're going to be visiting locations around Wales to explain
how together we aim to improve the sport in Wales and how cricket
players, officials, spectators and volunteers can help.
"The
roadshows will also be different this year with a hands-on coaching
session at each event, so we’re really keen for club players and
particularly captains at clubs at any level to gain some insights from
our professional coaches."
Peter
Hybart, Cricket Wales Chief Executive added, “The roadshow events have
been successful over the last two years and we hope we can spark
discussion about how we can improve the game in Wales as well as helping
clubs to retain their players and improve their game, to strengthen the
sport for future years. We’re keen for cricket players and officials to
attend each event as there will be insight and benefits for all.”
