The Swansea Festival 2012

|

Cricket Wales Community Coaches and Junior Club Teams from Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Swansea and Neath/Port Talbot have helped to make the recent Glamorgan CCC “Festival Week” at Swansea a great success once again.  Junior players were able to provide a “Guard of Honour” on four days of the Festival as the Teams took the field at St.Helens and also provided some entertainment for the crowd in the lunch or tea intervals, with a display of Kwik Cricket Activity.

A Coaching Session given by the Glamorgan Players/Coaches unfortunately had to be postponed on the Tuesday before the 4-day match against Gloucestershire, but thankfully the rain kept away for most of the remainder of the game!  This allowed Briton Ferry Steel CC and Neath CC junior players to do the Guard of Honour and Kwik Cricket Activities on the Wednesday.  Drefach CC undertook the above activities on the Thursday and both Llandysul CC and Swansea CC attended on the Friday.  We had a break from activity on the Saturday but both Llanelli Girls CC and Bronwydd CC youngsters attended the Sunday Match between Glamorgan and Nottinghamshire.

The successful involvement of all these youngsters from West Wales was due to a number of parents providing transportation, the hard work of their club coaches and also to Neath/Port Talbot Community Coach, Sean Evans and N. Carmarthenshire/S.Ceredigion Community Coach, Rhidian Harries.  However, principal thanks must go to Keri Chahal – Community Coach for Swansea/S. Carmarthenshire, who co-ordinated all Cricket Wales Activities over the 4 days  and who ensured, despite changeable weather, that activities ran smoothly.

It was also great to see Glamorgan CCC winning both matches at Swansea!
