The Final will, this year, return to the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff and will be played on August 18th.
Clubs will note that there are some changes from last year.
• There are only 61 entries this year (18 in North Wales and 42 elsewhere). This means that there is need for only two ties to be played in Round 1 (both in North Wales).
• This is a significant fall in entries compared with 2012. However, many matches were conceded in the early rounds last season. The reasons for the decline in interest by players are many-fold and warrant further investigation but the organisers have decided to revert to geographical zoning up to the Quarter Finals. By reducing potential travelling times, it is hoped to reduce the incidence of conceded ties this year. This was a decision made after some discussion and was made in the full knowledge that some clubs had requested a widening of the zones to increase the likelihood of meeting new opponents.
