2nd September 2012

The Under 13 Final was for the first time in Regional cricket history contested by the two North regions, Eryri and North East Wales.
Winners North East Wales Under 13
Runners Up Eryri Under 13
North East Wales batted first but found the Eryri bowlers to be in good form and were reduced to 69 - 5. Sam Thompson (Under 12) bowled a fine spell of left arm spin, taking 1 - 18 from his 8 overs. A partnership was needed to ensure a competitive total; Roman Walker (26) and Andy Oates began rebuilding and added 65. Finally, a vital 41 runs were made in the closing overs with the captain, Ryan Harman. Oates finished with 40 not out and his team on 169 - 6 from their 40 overs.
When Eryri batted much was thought to depend on thier strong top order, however both openers were dismissed with just 1 run on the board. At 34 - 3 Jack Gower and Aarin Hughes came together and played themselves in cautiously and then flourishing with some fine shots. Gower completing the only half century of the game. However they were both dismissed, Gower for 53 and Hughes for 33 at a vital stage. After 33 overs the game could not have been tighter as both teams were on 124 - 5. A tight finish was certain. Captain Harman then introduced Off Spinner Dan Shaw and called back Walker who both proved the way to stop the scoring was to take wickets with Shaw taking the final wicket in the last over with Eryri on 152, just 18 runs short.
A credit to the North, a highly entertaining, skillful, evenly contested game played in the right spirit by all.
A special thanks to Colwyn Bay Cricket Club for hosting and to the Umpires. The trophies were presented by Ally Pitman, Chairman of Eryri Regional Committee and a member of the Cricket Wales Board.
