Player of the Month Awards September 2019

|

Player of the Month Awards were presented at the recent Glamorgan v Hampshire T2 match. The presentation was made by Mark Wallace. The winners attending on the night (pictured) were:

July 2019 - Libby Thomas

Libby scored 555 in the month of July at an average of 39.6 with 5 half centuries. Libby also took 5 catches and 9 stumpings while keeping wicket. Her levels of concentration and determination while batting are rarely seen in a young player, which has resulted in the volume of runs Libby has scored in July.

July 2019– Ethan Jones

Ethan has had a productive season the U13s but shone particularly in July taking 4-9 vs Middlesex, 5-27 vs Gloucestershire, 2-25 vs Kent, and 3-39 vs Yorkshire in addition to some important runs in the lower order. Ethan has shown real progress this year and fully deserves July’s Player of the Month.

August 2019 – Sam Jardine

Sam has batted superbly this season leading the U17s in all formats. 142 vs Warwickshire could have won him PoM in July, but a dogged 102 vs Nottinghamshire along with a hard fought 99 vs Staffordshire left him the clear favourite for August! Sam has also made his Minor Counties debut for Wales and continues to go from strength to strength.

A number of the winners were unable to attend due to playing commitments and holidays. The other winners were:

May 2019 – Alex Horton

Alex has enjoyed a strong season all summer, which has included making his Glamorgan 2nd XI debut and representing the South & West at the ECB Super 4s at Loughborough. A sparkling 115 off 76 balls in the U17s first ECB One Day Cup match kickstarted the campaign and contributed to a 79 run win.

August 2019 - Cerys Griffiths

Cerys scored 2 50s and a 42 at Malvern last week. She’s also contributed valuable runs at the top of the order and taken wickets throughout all games during August. She’s also been part of the leadership team helping captain the side and her understanding of the game has developed massively.

May 2019 - Alex Griffiths

Alex scored 246 runs in May with the highlight being 70 runs against Berkshire for the Senior Women. Alex also took 5 wickets and bowled consistently well throughout May in the Senior Women's Royal London competition. Alex’s exceptional fielding along with her batting and bowling earned her a Western Storm contract.

June 2019 - Rachel Priest

Rachel scored 210 runs and took 2 catches. Her role within the senior women's squad was to open the batting and make the most of the power play. Rachel scored 210 runs off 169 balls. Rachel also kept wicket exceptionally well keeping the pressure on the opposition in her favoured T20 format.
