Peter Hall 1947 - 2016
Following the sad loss recently of Peter Hall, the prolific Pembrokeshire batsman, the cricket community gathered together at St. Mary's Church, Carew, on November 9th to bid farewell to a larger-than-life character. A congregation of over 200 heard a moving tribute to Peter from the Chairman of Carew Cricket Club, one of several clubs in Pembrokeshire that Peter had represented.
Among the congregation, that was understandably dominated by friends and family from Pembrokeshire, was a group of former team mates from Wales Over 50s and Over 60s.
The 1998 Wales over 50s team that played in the National O50s Final against Yorkshire.
Six members of the team shown above attended Peter's funeral, having travelled from as far as Newport, Merthyr, Cardiff and Aberystwyth in order to pay their respects. In addition to those six (Ron Walton, Roy Williams, Nick Evans, who acted as a bearer, Robin Varley, Barry Wood and Gordon Voke). Ryan Wallace, John Morris, Peter Betterley, Keith James and Mike Staddon also attended.
1999 - Winners v Lancashire at Pontarddulais CC
Most of this group stayed for a while afterwards and, as old cricketers tend to do, enjoyed some reminiscing about past triumphs (real and imagined!)
