Heartbeat of the Club – Arthur Cook

Arthur is a founder member of Creigiau CC (1987) and has since held numerous positions within the club including Chairman, Groundsman, 3rds Captain and currently Secretary (for over a decade). Arthur has, and continues to instigate and deliver innumerable ideas/projects to develop the club. His continual optimism, tenacity and desire to increase participation, has recently led to the club introducing an All Stars offering now boasting 75 children, and a thriving women’s cricket team boasting 25 new cricketers. He has therefore undoubtedly been the Heartbeat of the Club throughout its lifetime.

 

Lifetime Achiever – Mike Lloyd

Mike’s first match for Llangennech CC was in 1974 and he is still playing at the age of 61, during which time he has broken most club records. For over 20 years, he was the Junior Organiser overseeing the development of other coaches and teams at each age group. This has meant that several hundred youngsters came under his wing, and they will testify to his boundless enthusiasm, energy and encouragement and never forgetting that the main purpose was to enjoy themselves by participating and fulfilling their potential.

 

Young Volunteer (14-18) – Osian Roberts

Osian is a club junior cricketer at Abergele CC North Wales. This year he has scored every game for the first X1, home & away. He joined the young ambassador programme in North Wales and has been at the forefront with delivery. He has assisted Eryri Junior cricket with its indoor under 10’s festival in the Spring, and at Abegele CC he also volunteers for all ground club days, BBQ’s, assists with the junior section and did all 8 weeks of All Stars delivery. Overall, he has dedicated 150+ hours of voluntary work at Abergele CC and within the Young Ambassadors programme.

 

 

The Most Inspiring and Diverse Cricket Offer – Dolgellau CC

Dolgellau Cricket Club is an example of how a club can reinvent itself in a rural area to offer cricket to inspire a community. Three years ago, the club had one senior team and a limited number of members. Today they field two senior teams; a hardball ladies’ team; various Women’s Softball cricket & junior cricket teams at a number of age groups. The club also offer All Stars Cricket and a Disability Cricket session. They regularly host large community cricket festivals for schools, colleges, businesses and between clubs in a rural area which has opened up the site to a number of different audiences. By changing & diversifying their offer and linking in with local community groups the membership at the club has increased significantly (not including All Stars).

 

Pro Active Leadership in Cricket – Derek Picken

Derek is a remarkable leader and pivotal member of Rogerstone Cricket Club, The South East Wales Cricket League and Cricket Wales Child Welfare Council. Derek has given fifty years of dedicated service to Rogerstone CC where he has held virtually every committee role.  He has led the club through difficult times and is now enjoying the fruits of his labour, with vibrant All Stars attendance and success on and off the field.  He is League Welfare Officer for SEWCL where he has introduced constitutional and cultural change, compelling welfare compliance operationally. In this role and that on the Cricket Wales Child Welfare Council, he continues to strive to make the game as safe as it can be both at regional and national level.
