Gabby Basketter - Coach to Cricket Wales' Girls U12s
Cricket Wales is pleased to announce Gabby Basketter as the new Under 12s girls’ head coach.
Gabby started her coaching career volunteering at Newport CC working with under 12 girls. She then moved on to help develop girls’ cricket at Cardiff CC before moving on to the National Development Centres (NDCs) and assisting with Cricket Wales age groups on a casual basis. Gabby has been coaching at the girls’ NDCs for the past few years gaining experience coaching girls from ages 7-18.
In the summer of 2015 Gabby helped out with the Wales Under 13 girls and helped see them through an extremely successful and rewarding season. They reached the ECB national finals and eventually became runners up to Yorkshire. Gabby plays for Newport CC and is a member of the Cricket Wales Senior squad.
On appointment Gabby said “I'm thrilled to be given the opportunity to be Head Coach to the Under 12 girls and can’t wait get started.
“I hope to develop the girls’ cricket skills so that they start to perfect the basics; learn to work as part of a team; and most importantly, learn to love the game and play with a smile on their faces.
“I hope that I can act as a role model for the girls as a player in the Senior Women's team myself. As someone who has always been passionate about cricket from a very young age, I want to pass on the knowledge, skills and experiences I have learnt throughout my cricketing career and to inspire the future generations to enjoy the game as much as I do.”
