A Zoom meeting full of coaches up and down Wales were
engaged in an absorbing session on Thursday 17 June listening to two leading
exponents of the game. Glamorgan’s director of Cricket’ Mark Wallace and Mark
O’Leary from the Western Storm and Cardiff MCCU both fielded a wide range of
questions.
The subjects covered came from questions of those who tuned
in. Discussions ranged from how the pair look at mistakes and use them as
learning opportunities, with constant reflection on improvement as to how they
both impart coaching knowledge.

Western Storm's Trevor Griffin popped in as well and added his
thoughts on his experience of coaching women’s cricket especially around the
subject of being self-confident and ‘pumping up the tyres’.
Both coaches looked at modern trends and where the game is
going urging coaches to ‘stay current and relate to current role models’
They were quizzed on of the biggest challenges of coaching
younger players and also how players are now very skilled from their absorption
of top players on the TV.

criticising and the benefits of offering scenarios to make the players think
Inevitably we heard about wicket keeping and leg spin and
how both could become even more important in the game.
