Live Streaming of Matches

The Cricket Wales staffing and safeguarding team have received enquiries regarding the live streaming of matches. We have discussed how best to approach this matter with the ECB. They and we are fully aware that live streaming is becoming more accessible and available and that this affords opportunities for clubs to develop and advertise the services they provide.
There must however be safeguards in place to protect individuals (children and adults) who may be at risk in the event that they are identified in the community. Further, there are inevitable GDPR issues as photographs are ‘Personal Data’ defined within the Data Protection Act.
The ECB are keen to rewrite policy in this regard and to circulate this operationally. Practically, there is a lot of work underway restructuring systems centrally and this particular policy is unlikely to be written in time for the 2020 season to begin. Cricket Wales does expect a relevant policy circulation during the 2020 season, but for now, we will need to follow the published Photography, Filming and Social Media Broadcast Guidelines which can be found here…

In the interim, Cricket Wales suggests that clubs wait before purchasing/installing expensive systems prior to the new expectations being received.
