Lisvane Cricket Club - U13s Welsh Cup Champions

This year's Under 13 Junior Welsh Cup saw Lisvane lift the trophy at Newtown Cricket Club. They performed extremely well in both their Semi Final against Northop Hall and in the Final against Penarth.

In Semi Final 1 - on a cold and overcast morning - Lisvane  won the toss and elected to bowl. Northop Hall scored 82 for the loss of 9 wickets in the 1st innings - several Northop Hall batters made starts but were unable to kick on. Some excellent bowling by Lisvane - Hasan Amar 4-11 / Devansh Agarwal 3-9 / Gus Crowter 1-6 / Tanay Goyal 1-14. In reply  skipper Agarwal made a quick 22 off 18 balls before being run out - Harsh Chauhan 24 and Aaryan Pandit 15* knocked off the winning runs with 5 overs to spare - Lisvane winning by 8 wkts.

In Semi Final 2 - whilst the conditions stayed the same throughout - it was Mumbles who won the toss and asked Penarth to bat first. An early wicket saw Mumbles bring Michael Rameshkumar to the crease to join opener Gruffydd Reynolds. Together the pair put on 66 for the 2nd wicket with both batters retiring on 30 and 32 respectively. Penarth posting 128-6 in their 20 overs. Rhys Chivers 1-13 and Osian Evans 1-4 were the pick of the bowlers- some great fielding throughout the day - as mumbles picked up 2 run outs. In reply Mumbles got off to a decent start staying up with the required run rate but after Thomas Ludman 23  and Tom Phillips 16 both lost their wickets it was looking like an uphill task for them. Michael Rameshkumar adding to his 1st innings performance with 3-14 / Ellis Hudson 1-15 / Nate Abel 1-18 and Rhys Lewis 1-12 picking up the wickets. Penarth winning by 33 runs.

 In the final - Penarth opted to bat first and were restricted to 57 all out after an excellent bowling display by Lisvane. Only Henry Lewis. 27 and Benji Hill 15 managing double fiures. 4 of the St Fagans bowlers all chipped in with wickets - Hasan Amar 3-5 / Devansh Agarwal 2-6 / Tanay Goyal 2-20 and Joseff Maitland 1-5.

In reply - Penarth struck early with lisvane 0-1 after the first over. Yet again though it was skipper Devansh Agarwal who for his all round performance in the game picking up Playewr of the match award - he scored 30 not out off 21 balls - Lisvane chasing down the 58 needed for 3 wickets in the 9th over. Ellis Hudson taking 2-14 for Penarth.

So its another year done in the U13s Welsh Cup - Lisvane Cricket Club are the U13 Welsh Cup Champions
