Heather Knight will be inspiring the next generation of girls this summer as the latest England women’s cricketer to become a
Chance to Shine Coaching Ambassador.
Heather will be based in Cardiff and will support Cricket Wales as part of the England Women’s Coaching Ambassador Programme this summer. She will be combining this role with the work she is currently doing with Youth Sports Trust. The 20-year-old, who made her international debut in 2010, has welcomed the opportunity to share her skills and experiences with the young people of England and Wales.
Knight, who is a right-handed batsman, has become a regular for the international side since making her debut in a One-Day International in Mumbai in 2010.
Commenting on her new role Heather said, “I'm really excited to join the
Chance to Shine team alongside my England cricket playing commitments. The work that
Chance to Shine does for grassroots cricket is brilliant and I can't wait to get out there and involved in coaching and inspiring the next generation of kids to get involved in a sport that has given me so much.
England Captain and fellow Coaching Ambassador Charlotte Edwards said, “I’m delighted that Heather has joined the team. I’ve no doubt that she will bring her natural enthusiasm and energy to the role and inspire girls all over Wales to players and enjoy cricket.”
Cricket Wales Development Manager Gavin Hawkey said, “Cricket Wales is delighted to have Heather’s support to help us inspire more girls in Wales to choose cricket; she is an exceptional role model and clearly enjoys getting involved in coaching sessions.”
