Harry Lazarus

|

On June 18th Harry Lazarus was taken ill and admitted to Morriston Hospital, Swansea After a short illness he sadly passed away on the Thursday evening of June 20th.

Harry has been a central pillar in junior local cricket for many years and was the West Glamorgan Regional Chairman since its foundation in 2000.

Prior to Harry’s role with the region, he along with Tom Cartwright, Tom Cleminson and Bev Fowles founded the West Glamorgan Schools Association and the West Glamorgan Coaches Association in the mid 1980’s.

Harry took the role of secretary in both organisations and was pivotal in their establishment and growth.

During a recent conversation with Bev Fowles he fittingly described Harry as simply “the go to man” in those early days.

Harry continued to be the secretary of the Coaches Association which he administered alongside his Regional Chairmans role with West Glamorgan. He was also a former board member of Cricket Wales and Glamorgan CCC where he worked closely with the former chairman Hugh Davies.

Harrys commitment and passion for junior cricket and coach development was the driving force that ensured it was always well organised and run throughout his area.

Harry also had a long association with Neath Cricket Club along with his other passion rugby, where he was a keen supporter and committee member of Swansea Uplands RFC

Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family at this sad time, wife Ann and children Peter and Nicola.

He will be sadly missed.
