Gwalia Welsh Cup Entries to be in by 16th January

Clubs have received an invitation, by E-mail, to enter the Gwalia Welsh Cup competition for 2013.
The deadline for entries is Wednesday 16th January. It is hoped to publish the draw soon after the 16th. Entries can be confirmed by sending an e-mail message to Robin Varley at

There are several significant changes from previous years:
• Abandoned or postponed ties will be played on the following Sunday on the ground of the team originally drawn to play away
• Matches may not be postponed if the tie clashes with another competition. Efforts have been made to avoid clashes with the other major competitions.
• Matches will be a maximum 40 overs per innings (instead of 45) and bowlers will be limited to a maximum of 8 overs
• A revised Code of Conduct and new disciplinary procedures are in place for 2013.
The changes are aimed at simplifying the administration of the competition and, more importantly, are hoping to tempt more clubs to play in the competition. If there are sufficient grounds for doing so, the early rounds might be regionalised.
