CRICKET WALES TO PLAY THE MCC AT LORDS IN APRIL

|

The annual fixture against the MCC is set to take place on April 21st 2020 this coming season.

Cricket Wales have hosted the fixture in recent times with St Fagans Cricket Club hosting a three day game in 2018 (Wales winning by 118 runs), and Pentyrch Cricket Club hosting a drawn, washed out affair in 2019. We are delighted to confirm that the MCC will be hosting us at Lords for a one day game. The fixture is a hugely prestigious occasion regardless of the venue, and Cricket Wales is honoured that the MCC view it in similar light.

Being at the home of the cricket for the first time since 2016 is a tremendous privilege and one that may not come around too often in the future given the increased demands of the ground with a busy cricketing calendar. We encourage all members of the cricketing community to support the team if they are able for what promises to be a special day. Entrance to the game is £5 and access to the long room and pavilion will be available for all dressed in smart attire.

The selected side comprises of the following players who epitomise the ethos of what Cricket in Wales is about. That is players and officials from across the country that have either given a lot to the game in terms of service, are performing to a high level at either youth or senior level, or who have the ability/aspiration to play the highest level of amateur cricket possible in the future. Naturally there are so many cricketers to choose from and we only wish more could come! The travelling team is as below:

Match Manager: Paul Webb (Pembrokeshire)

Umpire: Bob Szpadt

Scorer: Tom Jones (Wales ACO Cricketeens)

Michael Clayden (Newport)

Matt Humphries (Mochdre)

Brad Wadlan (Swansea)

Elis Richards (Ammanford)

Matt Thompson*+ (St Fagans)

Sean Griffiths (Neath)

Andrew Miller (Neyland)

Dan Lewis-Williams (Mumbles)

Owen Reilly (Bangor)

Richard Edwards (Port Talbot)

Jack Rimmington (Llandudno)
