Cricket Wales Champions People and Culture at Fitzalan High School
As part of our ongoing commitment to developing people and strengthening communities, Cricket Wales proudly delivered a leadership programme this week at Fitzalan High School, Cardiff, in partnership with our long-standing supporters, Chance to Shine.
This inspiring day sits at the heart of our People and Culture strategic pillar, focused on nurturing the next generation of leaders both on and off the field.
The leadership programme is built around mentoring young people and equipping them with vital life skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, and problem-solving. Those who demonstrate natural leadership qualities are encouraged to progress into coaching roles, with signposting to further opportunities in their local areas.
The event was expertly coordinated by Mojeid Ilyas, whose work has been instrumental in bringing the programme to life. A key highlight of the day was an engaging classroom session led by Andrew Diggle, Behavioural Specialist at AD Active, whose interactive workshop received outstanding feedback from the students.
Keri Chahal, Programme Lead at Cricket Wales, reflected on the impact of the day:
"Having the opportunity to provide this experience for the participants is a game changer. The hope is we have inspired them and given them wider skills they can take forward with confidence."
This initiative is just one example of how Cricket Wales is embedding inclusive growth and cultural transformation throughout the sport. By investing in young people and creating positive, aspirational pathways, we are shaping a stronger, more connected cricketing community for the future.
