Cricket Wales and Girlguiding Cymru Team Up For Summer 2022

|

We are extremely proud to announce a new partnership with Girlguiding Cymru, which launches officially today, aimed at encouraging even more girls in Wales to discover cricket and grow in our sport.

The partnership's primary goals are to give Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers the opportunity to get active, have fun, and make new friends through cricket

Together, we want to encourage members from all sections across Wales to learn more about cricket, its players and teams, how to play the game and the basics of officiating - and to take part in safe, fun 'Give it a go' taster sessions locally.

We have also developed a new Cricket Challenge Pack - and exciting Cricket Challenge badge - with activities suitable for all ages.

Sections will also have the opportuntity to experience a live game at the Sophia Gardens stadium, Cardiff; home of Glamorgan Cricket, the Welsh Fire, Wales Women, and the host venue of the Western Storm's first game of 2022, on Saturday 14th May.

Commenting on the partnership's launch, Leshia Hawkins, Cricket Wales, said, "Wales has already seen an explosion in cricket participation among girls in the last 5 years - especially in All Stars Cricket and Dynamos sessions in clubs. I am particularly excited about this partnership's potential reach, which I'm sure will mean even more girls will be inspired to say, 'Cricket is a game for me', and further amplify and enable our lofty ambitions for female participation in Wales."
