Cricket Wales and ECB statement regarding Coronavirus updated March 18th 2020

|

The outbreak and impact of Coronavirus in the UK is a serious, unprecedented and currently still very unpredictable matter.

Cricket Wales has been in close and regular dialogue with colleagues at Glamorgan Cricket and the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), in order to align our approach and to manage our response for our staff, visitors to venues, participants and supporters of cricket.

These conversations are ongoing and our approach has been to follow the standing government advice. In light of the recent shift in the UK government’s position, in relation in particular to ‘non-essential travel and contact’, the ECB has today updated its advice to the recreational game.

Cricket Wales supports this position and urges all clubs, leagues, participants and volunteers to follow this guidance and suspend all cricket activity.

Cricket Wales’ priority is the safety and wellbeing of all participants in what will undoubtedly be a testing time for our sport and, indeed, our nation. We will endeavour to serve cricket in the best and most appropriate way possible, under the challenging circumstances we will all face in the coming weeks and months.

We will of course continue to update you regularly, as this situation evolves.
