CLUB OF THE WEEK Ynysgerwn CC coping with Lockdown
28th May 2020
| Mallory Gray
Thanks to Howard Bowden Secretary of Ynysgerwn CC for this case study
Ynysgerwn club shut down in March during the
COVID-19 lockdown. Since that time Some of the committee got together (over
Whatsapp) and Simon Williams & Steve Williams under the tutelage of
Lawrence Williams the retiring groundsman, who have been managing the field
co-ordinated many members who volunteered to come to the club in small numbers
so they could observe social distancing while sprucing up around the club.
The members have been outstanding replacing facias
on the side and back of the club, repainting walls, railings, digging up old
flower beds and renewing them. We have even removed an old astroturf wicket
alongside the square and made the ground good .
There was and old overgrown area near the roller
shed that has been transformed with tons of earth being moved.
Thanks to Neil
Davies.
Nicky Maggs and Craig Evans have taken it upon
themselves to organise virtual quiz nights, bingo, raffles which a lot of the
members buy into.
Recently the Nets project has restarted and work
progresses.
We as a committee would like to publicly thank all
who have taken their time to contribute in their own way. A few have been named
but the number is many.
