Cardiff CC Crowned 2025 U15 Welsh Cup Final Champions
In a swift and well-executed chase, Cardiff CC’s U15 side comfortably reached the target of 71, losing just 3 wickets. The win marked a commanding 7-wicket victory over Kidwelly CC, who had posted a modest total after a strong defensive effort.
A huge thanks to Newport Cricket Club for staging a flawless finals day. The ground looked superb, and the scheduling ran like clockwork, well done to everyone behind the scenes.
From early morning pitch preparation to boundary flag duties, an army of volunteers, coaches, parents, umpires, and scorers ensured the day was seamless. Their energy, smiles, and encouragement made it a joyous occasion for players and spectators alike.
The CEO of Cricket Wales, Barry Cawte, presented the winners' medals to Cardiff CC after proudly cheering on the action with his sons, who soaked in the excitement and atmosphere. He said:
“It has been a fantastic day here today, the day radiated positivity and community pride. It has been a competitive final, with some great cricket, and a fantastic communal atmosphere that made this tournament a memorable celebration of youth cricket in Wales.
“Huge congratulations to Cardiff CC, full marks to Kidwelly CC, and a heartfelt thank you to Newport CC, the volunteers, and all families for creating a wonderful day of cricket.”
The day was also a clear illustration of Cricket Wales' values, Together, Lead, Care (TLC). The likes of Mike and Dave Knight embodied these values, preparing the ground superbly and contributing to a professional and welcoming environment. Their efforts, along with those of many others, reflect everything Criced in Wales strives to represent both on and off the field.
Cardiff CC U15's now go on to face either Bristol or Brockhampton in the national rounds, as they continue their journey with real momentum and spirit.
