ECB County Grant Fund backs 16 clubs across Wales to strengthen facilities

Cricket Wales is proud to announce the successful applicants to the ECB County Grant Fund, with 16 clubs across Wales receiving a combined £288,781 towards projects worth more than £346,000 in total. The funding will help clubs deliver a wide range of improvements, from enhanced changing provision and more welcoming social spaces to upgraded toilets, catering facilities and new non-turf pitches.

We would like to thank the ECB for its ongoing support of clubs and communities in Wales. This latest investment will make a real difference on the ground, helping clubs create environments that are more inclusive, accessible and fit for the future. It is another important step in supporting the long-term growth of the game and the people who give it life in every part of Wales.

The funding strongly reflects the ambitions set out in the Cricket Wales strategy, particularly the Facilities pillar, which is focused on “ensuring that cricket in Wales has the right facilities to support how our sport is adapting and growing.” Across the successful projects, clubs are improving spaces that will better support women’s and girls’ cricket, welcome families and volunteers, improve accessibility, and provide quality places for communities to come together through cricket.

This work also speaks directly to the values at the heart of Cricket Wales: Together, Lead, Care. These projects show clubs working together with partners to build stronger futures, leading by investing in modern and inclusive environments, and caring for players, volunteers and communities by making cricket spaces safer, more welcoming and more accessible to all.

Among the successful applications, funding will support major changing room refurbishments at clubs including Brymbo, Haverfordwest and Miskin Manor; new and improved social and catering spaces at clubs such as Abergavenny , St Fagans, Hopkinstown and Gwersyllt Park; and enhanced playing facilities through new non-turf pitches at Cresselly and Carmarthen Wanderers. Several projects will also improve accessibility and inclusivity through upgraded toilet provision, including work at Neath, Maesteg and Ammanford.

By investing in facilities, we are helping clubs not only meet today’s needs, but prepare for tomorrow’s opportunities. Better spaces help clubs grow participation, strengthen their community offer, and create environments where more people can feel that cricket in Wales is a place for them. That is central to Cricket Wales’ vision Criced – A sport for all.
