Talent Pathway Application Window Now OPEN!

Cricket Wales are delighted to confirm that the application process for entry onto the talent pathway (i.e. the Cricket Wales Regional Programme) is now open for the 2026/27 programme which commences from November 2026!

In short, we operate two different application processes depending on age groups:

1. U10 & U11 Boys

The Process: https://youtu.be/MkUkTZLxTZM

This is a completely open process to anyone across Wales.

All a parent needs to do is complete the Google Form (https://forms.gle/BHQ2GitNzeWxbmCo7) to express their child’s interest and we will slot them into our Talent ID assessments in September, before confirming successful applicants for our winter programme which starts at the end of November.

Please note you should only complete this form if you, or your son is a current U8 (Year 3), U9 (Year 4), or a current U10 (Year 5). You will not require any cricketing protective equipment on the Talent ID day and we WILL accept expressions of interest players who may not have had experience of a hard cricket ball yet.

Further details regarding the assessment dates in September can be found on the Google Form itself but remember – we’re not looking for ‘cricketers’ – we’re looking for boys and girls who can and want to play cricket!

*Glamorgan CCC will be operating and administering their own separate process for U10-U12 girls.

2. U12 – U14 Boys & U13 – U15 Girls

Parents must submit a series of videos on their son/daughter’s behalf, which will be assessed by the pathway team in September. Successful applicants will then be invited to a series of in-person sessions to determine their suitability in joining the programme.

Please see the ‘Nomination Information Sheet and Terms & Conditions’ document on the regional cricket page for further information.

We WILL accept nominations from any player who may not have access to protective cricketing equipment and/or a hard cricket ball. Where you do have access to these, it is requested that you use them. Videos must be submitted via the Cricket Wales WhatsApp Business number on 07523678914.

All of the above information can be found via https://cricketwales.org.uk/regional-cricket/, although any queries should be directed to Head of Talent Pathway Matt Dando-Thompson via matt.thompson@cricketwales.org.uk.

For general FAQs please access this via the ‘Key Documents’ section of the regional cricket page.

Deadline for both processes is Friday 14th August.
