Creative thinking sees InPost Lockers installed at Buckley CC
Mark McManus, Chairman at Buckley CC, tells us how the installation of InPost lockers at the club has brought welcome additional revenue and raised awareness of the club locally.
“The idea came to me whilst sitting outside yet another shop unit that had an InPost locker. Both my wife and daughters are slaves to fast fashion, so we run around the locality finding InPost lockers to receive and return parcels regularly.
It’s a convenient service to use, safe, secure, outside, easy and accessible. Plus, I noticed that most people not only picked up their parcels, or dropped off their return items, but then went into the store to buy something. What a great way to introduce new and additional traffic and trade for the store.
It led me to thinking that the installation of an InPost locker at Buckley Cricket Club could not only generate revenue from an unused space, but people would get to see our club and realise what a great facility that we have. Because it’s so nice and welcoming, I knew they’d stay and have a drink, watch the cricket and maybe even take part.” Mark McManus.
Mark then investigated how to start the process of Buckley Cricket Club hosting their own InPost locker, and found it easy, straightforward and efficient.
“I simply googled InPost and they have a nice and easy online form to complete, and I think the salesperson contacted me less than 2 hours later.
I had a couple of short, simple online meetings, the first to assess the area and suitability of the location; then they sent the installation team to assess the opportunity in person, to check out the reality of it all.”
Factoids:
- Date of instalment: 21st May 2026
- Expected revenue: With a 5m locker, expect an annual income from InPost of £1,300, which is paid quarterly. As a host, you must pay the electric costs for running the unit, which are expected to be minimal.
- Maintenance costs: There are no maintenance costs to consider as InPost look after it all. If it gets damaged or stops working, it is down to InPost to sort it.
- Minimum usage: There are no minimum usage stipulations or penalties.
- Hassle factors: It was easy to set up, arrange and organise using the online form.

InPost Lockers come in different sizes, but they typically require a secure outdoor space with a minimum 2.5m height clearance, 2m width and 90cm depth with enough space to open and for a user to stand in front. Generally, if you have an accessible, safe outdoor area, it could be the perfect spot!

Worried about costs?
It costs nothing to host an InPost locker and InPost covers the installation, maintenance, and servicing costs.
It’s also worth noting that InPost lockers are fully independent of the host sites WiFi and internet, so shouldn’t cause capacity issues or incur any related costs to the club’s connectivity or network capacity.
Consider the marketing costs incurred to put your cricket club on the map – this does it for you to a mass market, local audience.
Car parking concerns
The locker need not take up parking space as InPost work closely with hosts to position lockers in spots that don’t impact the customer experience or customer parking. Their team assess the site and recommend the best placement. Make sure you talk to their team about how the ground and car park is access and used, so it doesn’t cause a problem.
Footfall that pays
Customers are signposted to their nearest convenient InPost location on the app and website, matching the postcode of the customer with the postcode of a host location.
Having an InPost locker on the premises can drive revenue from unplanned purchases. Typically, InPost report an average over £5 per visit, rising to £11.90 when customers shop with intent. For cricket clubs, locker users and visitors could easily pop in for a drink or snack. When there’s cricket on, they may stay and watch too!
Attracting a new demographic
“As a club Buckley CC are hoping that individuals will be signposted to the club and like what they see and stay for a drink. This could really put us on the map for a new demographic.
We haven’t had to factor in any extra costs to the club from hosting a locker. If there is no use of the locker then that’s a problem for InPost and not us.
We are unsure of the additional footfall and traffic, but we do hope that more people will visit the club and stay. It’s a great new additional service for our existing club members, which we also feel will attract new visitors and members.” Mark McManus
Recommendations
“It’s still early on in our journey with InPost, but I’m happy to recommend the service we’ve had so far. I believe it will add extra value to an area of the ground that is unused. It is simple to organise, and installation and maintenance is down to InPost. It’s a win win situation.
I’m also hoping that this will significantly reduce my expenditure in driving to other InPost lockers and allow me even more time to spend at the club!” Mark McManus, Chair at Buckley Cricket Club, Flintshire.
