We are entering a new and exciting chapter, with the launch of a dynamic strategy developed in partnership with Glamorgan Cricket. At its core is the vision of Criced, A Sport For All, a bold commitment to making cricket accessible, enjoyable, and meaningful for everyone, everywhere. To help deliver this vision, we are introducing a key new role: Cricket & Clubs Lead.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a pivotal moment in Welsh cricket. The Cricket & Clubs Lead will play a central role in supporting clubs on their journey to becoming strong, inclusive, and resilient community hubs. From governance and planning to volunteer support and long-term sustainability, the post holder will ensure clubs have the knowledge, tools, and guidance they need to thrive.

Reporting to the Head of Participation, the role will also lead and coordinate the work of Cricket Participation Officers across Wales, ensuring a joined-up, strategic approach to club development and support.

To drive this ambition forward, we are introducing a new role: Cricket & Clubs Lead. This role will be instrumental in supporting clubs on their journey to becoming strong, well-managed, and inclusive community hubs, ensuring they have the knowledge, tools, and support they need to thrive.

The post holder will be an integral part of our participation team, reporting to the Head of Participation. They will work closely with clubs, leagues, volunteers, and other stakeholders to provide guidance, resources, and strategic support that enables clubs to grow and sustain their impact. Additionally, the Cricket Development Officers will report into this role, ensuring a coordinated approach to club support and development across Wales.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspiring Clubs to Thrive

• Inspire clubs to progress on the journey to becoming amazing, welcoming, and inclusive environments so that our sport can flourish within our communities.
• Ensure every club understands what is expected of them in terms of effective
governance, sustainability, and inclusivity.
• Provide tailored guidance and best practices to help clubs operate efficiently and sustainably.

Providing Support & Resources

• Collaboratively deliver targeted packages of support to equip clubs with the tools, knowledge, and training they need to thrive in the long term.
• Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and resources to upskill club administrators, volunteers, and leaders.
• Develop and promote club accreditation or development pathways to encourage continuous improvement.

Implementing Efficient Systems

• Provide centralised systems to make it easy for clubs to capture and use consistent, high-quality information.
• Support clubs in leveraging data and insights to enhance decision-making and
operational effectiveness.
• Promote digital tools and platforms that streamline administration and
communication for clubs.

Maximising Economic Potential

• Educate clubs on how to maximise the wider economic potential of their
organisation, including sponsorship, funding, and revenue diversification.
• Support clubs in accessing funding opportunities and developing financial
sustainability plans.
• Work with external partners to provide financial and operational guidance tailored to grassroots clubs.

Understanding & Supporting Club Aspirations

• Develop relationships with clubs to understand their aspirations and support them, where possible, to achieve their ambitions.
• Act as a key liaison between Cricket Wales and local clubs, ensuring their voices are heard and represented in decision-making processes.
• Advocate for the needs and interests of clubs within broader Cricket Wales
strategies and policies.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience in sports club development, community engagement, or a related field.
• Strong leadership and relationship management skills, with the ability to inspire and support clubs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working with a range of stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to implement effective club development initiatives.
• Understanding of governance, funding, and operational requirements for community sports clubs.
• Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and evaluation.

Desirable Experience & Attributes:

• A passion for cricket and a strong understanding of the club cricket landscape in Wales.
• Experience in managing and developing volunteers in a sporting environment.
• Knowledge of funding opportunities and experience in securing external investment for clubs.
• Welsh language proficiency or a willingness to develop Welsh language skills.

Darparu Cymorth ac Adnoddau

  •  Ar y cyd ag eraill, darparu pecynnau cymorth wedi’u targedu, i sicrhau bod clybiau â’r adnoddau, gwybodaeth a hyfforddiant sydd ei angen arnynt yn yr hirdymor.

            Darparu gweithdai, sesiynau hyfforddiant ac adnoddau i uwchraddio sgiliau gweinyddwyr clybiau, gwirfoddolwyr ac arweinwyr.

  • Datblygu a hyrwyddo achrediad clybiau neu lwybrau datblygu i annog gwelliant parhaus.

Rhoi Systemau Effeithlon ar Waith

  •  Darparu systemau canolog i’w gwneud hi’n haws i glybiau dderbyn a defnyddio gwybodaeth gyson o ansawdd da.
  • Cynorthwyo clybiau i wneud defnydd o ddata a dealltwriaeth er mwyn gwneud penderfyniadau gwell a gweithredu’n fwy effeithiol.
