Barclays Knight Stokes Cup Update

Further to our introduction to the MCCF Barclays Knight Stokes Cup U15s Secondary schools hard ball completion post in April below;

We are delighted to provide an update of the Wales wide finals days which took place in June at our local Cricket Clubs.  Despite some of the weather challenges in the group rounds the finals was went ahead as scheduled. The finals days were keenly contested by all the schools who qualified.  All games were played in good spirit and the players and teachesr all enjoyed their first experience of this completion.

With the support of the Wales ACO (Bob Spatz) all finals had league Umpires officiating.

 

Girls Finals:

North Wales – June 9th at Northop CC Alun School were the winners beating Ysgol Friars in a 2 school finals day.

South Wales – June 16th at Pondarddulias CC was an all West Wales affair where we had a 3 school round robin, Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr, Ysgol Y Strade and Ysgol Greenill

Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr won the day winning both their games.

Boys Finals 

North Wales – June 9th at Hawarden Park the final was won by Ysgol David Hughes beating Alun School in a school finals day.

South Wales – June 22nd at Newport CC was 4 school round robin finals day played over the clubs 2 pitches.

Cardiff High School were the victors winning both their games, finalists included  Ysgol Gyfun Penweddig, Ysgol Greenhill and Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr.

The 4 winners all now cross the boarder to England to play in regional national rounds. Fingers crossed we have a Welsh school in the final at Lords on September 10th.

A big thank you must go to all our cricket clubs across Wales who allowed local schools to use their grounds through the competition.
