Cricket Wales - About Us

Cricket Wales is one of 39 Boards that make up the ECB and is also recognised by Sport Wales and Welsh Government as the National Governing Body for cricket in Wales. We exist ‘to lead, inspire and influence the growth, quality and accessibility of cricket in Wales’ We are made up of many different cricket organisations from across the length and breadth of Wales, all sharing a passion for cricket.

We believe in our vision: 'Cricket thriving in the heart of Welsh communities' We feel confident that we can offer the right support and guidance to ensure cricket really does thrive across Wales. We also believe in the people who are involved with Cricket Wales. We are all different, and have great skills, experience and knowledge.

Over 250 clubs, leagues and associations involving almost 25,000 people make up Cricket Wales. These include: Cricket Clubs; Senior Leagues; Junior Leagues; Cricket Groundsman’s Associations(CGA’s); Wales Association of Cricket Officials; Wales Minor Counties; Coaches Associations and Junior Regions.

CRICKET WALES NORTH PATHWAY LEAD

ROLE AND PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Type of Role: Management

The Cricket Wales North (CWN) Pathway Lead is responsible for the Cricket Wales pathway across the North and Mid Wales areas, and thus an integral part of the national pathway. The role is pivotal to facilitating positive cricketing experiences, positive relationships across the cricketing network and establishing Welsh youngsters with a strong foundation from which they can flourish.

  • Regional Performance Centre players across U11-U17 age groups
  • Parents of players

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven track record of managing a project, including the ability to understand and work towards achieving broader organisational objectives
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to be innovative to maximise opportunities
  • Strong ability to build rapport quickly, and to influence others with excellent relationship building skills, collaboration and partnering skills
  • Accredited Level 2 Cricket Coach or its equivalent with up to date First Aid, Safeguarding and ECB DBS
  • A full, clean driving license

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • A sound level of cricketing knowledge with regards to the North Wales area
  • Accredited or working towards a Level 3 Coach qualification (Advanced Coach) or its equivalent
  • Tertiary qualification in Sports Coaching or related discipline
  • Experience of developing coaches & players

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A proven track record of interacting comfortably with coaches, parents, players and other key stakeholders in a variety of formal and informal settings

  • Willingness to be held accountable and desire to deliver against key objectives
  • Committed to equality and diversity

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overall management and coordination of the CWN programme including representative teams and fixture programming
  • Recruit, and work closely with members of the CWN coaching team in the three satellite centres (including the Athletic Development Coach) to ensure a high quality environment
  • Lead communications and feedback with players and parents throughout the year
  • Work closely with the Talent Programme Manager and CWN Age Group Coaches to ensure clarity on selection and coaching practices
  • Work closely with the CWN Area Board to shape and drive best practice for the area
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with players, parents, clubs, MCC Hubs and the Area team
  • Work closely with Wales Age Group Coaches to feed players into activities prior to selection for the summer
  • Assist the Talent Programme Manager in the Coach CPD & Parental Development programme
  • Any further duties that the Talent Programme Manager sees fit, providing that such duties are appropriate to the role.

RENUMERATION AND ROLE LOCATION

Location: Flexible (from home, but also frequently across areas such as Menai Bridge, Ruabon and Newtown)

Salary: £10,000 per annum (14-15 hours approx. per week). Contract: 2 year fixed term

There is potential for the role to grow over the course of the term, or potentially after, subject to funding.
